About Us
LUCOHECO
Lungujja Community Health Caring Organization (LUCOHECO) is a faith based and indigenous NonGovernmental Organization registered as a not for profit entity by the government of Uganda Reg (S.5914/10860) under the Non-Governmental Organizations Registration Statute, 1989. LUCOHECO is locally affiliated to Kamwokya Christian Caring Community (KCCC), Uganda Community Based Association for Women and Children Welfare (UCOBAC) and the Catholic Church in Uganda which has been its development partners since it was started. We are a member to global networks i.e. Huairou Commission and GROOTS International, the St Paul’s foundation for International Reconciliation (SPFIR and African Empowered Communities all based in the United States of America. All our activities are coordinated at our premises based at Lungujja Kitunzi which also houses the organization’s medical clinic.
Membership
Presently, the Organization has over 130 members among whom are 35 trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) and 41 Community Based Volunteers (CBVs). These works hand in hand with the Government trained and rolled out Village Health Teams.

Geographical Scope
LUCOHECO’s operation area is Kampala Districts due to its nature of high population with five divisions Kampala District (Rubaga Division, Nakawa Division, Kawempe Division, Kampala Central Division and Makindye Division, Outside the major operation area, the organization collaborates with a project that equally helps widows and children known as step up Uganda in Katosi, Mukono District to extend our services to those areas but also collaborates nationally with other Civil Society Organizations, Government departments, Private Sector Foundations/organizations and International Development Partners and Agencies in line with its aims and objectives.
